New Mexico has a statewide goal of 100% carbon-free electricity by 2045. New Mexico's Public Utility Act has been updated to include energy storage development. The state has set goals to develop 2,000MW/7,000MWh of energy storage capacity by 2034, with 1,000MW/3,500MWh of energy storage capacity online by the end of 2028.

The Federal Infrastructure and Jobs Act authorizes $1.2 trillion for transportation and infrastructure spending with $500 billion going toward new investments and programs, including battery storage.
